We're looking for a senior team member with experience in and a passion for the field of evaluation.Our team values a utilization-focused approach to evaluation, using quantitative and qualitative data to identify community needs, system improvements, project successes, and lessons learned. We work in partnership with organizations to understand their history, culture, and capacity. We design and implement evaluations that are feasible and help our partners achieve their goals. We're very collaborative in our approach, working together as a team with our external partners. Our projects address a wide range of issues but tend to focus on social services in Southeast Wisconsin (e.g., substance use, mental health, promoting healthy families).POSITION SUMMARY:The Senior Researcher routinely takes lead responsibility for evaluation projects, serves as a lead agency contact for project stakeholders, and contributes significantly to the development of proposals for new projects. A qualified candidate will have a Master's Degree (or Ph.D.) in a related field, a minimum of 5 years of experience conducting applied research/evaluation and demonstrated experience designing and implementing research/evaluation projects.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:The Senior Researcher independently leads the position's responsibilities, under the guidance of the Director of Research and Evaluation and in partnership with other IMPACT team members.Project Responsibilities
  • Design evaluation projects in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative data collection tools.
  • Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, being attentive to the context of the project and the community
  • Summarize findings with attention to the intended audience (e.g., written reports, data visualization, slidedocs, presentations, etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with internal/external teams and project stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and design of evaluation proposals.
  • Participate in community outreach and networking.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to agency and project teams.
  • Keep abreast of evaluation best practices and innovations.

  • Ability to effectively collect, understand, interpret, and summarize quantitative and qualitative data for the purposes of evaluation.

REQUIREMENTS:Successful candidates for the position will have:
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in social sciences, health sciences, or a related discipline, including extensive research-related coursework.
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience with progressive responsibilities in applied research and/or evaluation, including experience serving as project lead and conducting evaluations.
  • Demonstrated experience designing quality research and evaluation projects and developing surveys, qualitative data questions, and other data collection tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with databases, data management, statistical software packages, and with analysis and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data.
Demonstrated experience creating user-friendly summaries of data findings for a lay audience.Demonstrated experience with project management, including facilitating teamwork, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines.Experience or lived experience working with non-profit and government agencies, diverse community groups, and/or consumers of health or human services.Understanding of the function and use of evaluation within the nonprofit and public sectors (with federal grant experience a plus).Familiarity with traditional evaluation approaches and emerging trends in the field.Requirements for all candidates:
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Reside in the State of Wisconsin and within 50 miles of IMPACT.
HOURS/TRAININGThis is a full-time, hybrid, exempt position within IMPACT. General work hours will be Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.BENEFITS (eligible on the 1st of the month, following 30 days of employment):
