Maintain a safety first attitude and hold the crew accountable for the same attitude and behavior
Ensure that the crew is producing the best quality bar as possible
Maintain a continuous focus on cost and ways to decrease waste and cost
Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
Monitor the furnace operations to ensure that all variables are within the program designed for melting
Understand use of level 2 HMI and Ignition for proper furnace controls
Assist with all furnace repairs and preventive maintenance on downdays
What You'll Need
Minimum 2 years department experience in a hands on environment
Basic knowledge of computers and MS Office programs - Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Ability to operate fork lift and overhead crane required
Ability to use measuring devices (tapes, micrometer, inside outside calipers, etc)
Familiarity with steel mill operations in a Melt Shop preferred
Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
Some overtime will be required
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps
Your Education
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
