Job Category: HospitalityJob Description:Oversee and direct all activities related to the care and maintenance of the golf course, grounds, equipment, and other assigned areas depending upon location.Responsibilities:
Oversees, develops, and implements golf maintenance and chemical application programs to ensure the quality of turf conditions and course playability.
Plans and executes all maintenance work, applying expertise to achieve operational standards and goals,
Ensures the repair and maintenance of golf course equipment.
Oversees irrigation system control, system maintenance and repairs.
Provides advice, assistance, and services to leadership, as needed.
Assists in preparing and maintaining annual operating/capital budgets, as needed.
Participates in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, and trade shows.
Ensures employees obtain proper training on golf maintenance equipment and procedures.
Provide agronomic advice and consultation with the Golf Course Superintendent at Cherokee Trails as required.
Supervise/manager a department and has authority over hiring/firing/performance decisions.
Work will be performed in a variety of settings, including, climate-controlled office settings and/or outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Work involves exposure to potentially dangerous chemicals that require following extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.
Work requires lifting objects up to 50 lbs., and frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and balancing.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in horticulture, or other related field, and six (6) years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent in the same region or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
GCSAA member in good standing is required.
State Pesticide Applicators License / Certification required.
Preferred candidate will have proven experience in overseeing a full-scale golf course renovation, along with grow-in expertise.
Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and production methods.
Excellent communication, presentation and computer skills including working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
Ability to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Must have a professional appearance and ability to interact with customers and vendors.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
