Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.Willingness to learn and implement specialized strategies and supports.Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers and related service providers.Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 90 days of employmentSuccessful completion of CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of employmentAbility to work cooperatively with students, and parents from a variety of racial, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgroundsWillingness to attend professional trainings on a regular basisReports To: Assistant SuperintendentSupervises: N/AObjective: The Paraprofessional will work under the direction of a licensed special education teacher to provide support for students with highly intensive special needs. This position involves assisting students with academic, behavioral, and functional skills, including direct support for personal care needs such as toileting, feeding, mobility, and hygiene. The paraprofessional plays a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and independence.Performance Responsibilities:Provide instructional support to students as directed by the teacher, including one-on-one and small-group assistance.Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, and hygiene, with dignity and respect.Support students with mobility needs, including lifting, positioning, and transferring, as required.Implement individualized education plans (IEPs), behavior intervention plans, and communication supports under the supervision of certified staff.Monitor student engagement, behavior, and safety in the classroom, during transitions, and in non-classroom settings (cafeteria, playground, buses, etc.).Utilize specialized equipment, assistive technology, or adaptive devices as needed.Maintain confidentiality and follow all school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development as assigned.Promote social, emotional, and academic growth while encouraging independence to the greatest extent possible.Maintains open communication with administration, students, teachers, and other support services personnelPerforms other related duties as assigned.Terms of Employment: The work year for this position will be a 9 month term. Starting salary will be $16.13/hour for the 2025-2026 school year.. Additional compensation based on experience and educational level.
