Metallurgist/Materials Engineer **SIGN-ON BONUS**Our Brea, CA site is looking to add a Metallurgist to their growing team! As our Metallurgist/Materials Engineer, you will work with multiple teams within the Engineering Group to provide products to advanced power plant designs including Small Modular Reactors and Generation IV nuclear power plants, as well as existing power plants with decades of experience, in both domestic and international markets. In this role, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks including supporting the engineering department in materials science, metallurgy, and welding engineering. You will be working with minimal supervision, following established operating procedures, or creating new ones when necessary, and being able to provide creative solutions that fit the tasks at hand.Location: Brea, CA (Hybrid)We Take Care of Our PeoplePaid Time Off I 401K with Employer Match and Profit Sharing I Health and Wellness Benefits I Learning and Development Opportunities I Referral Program I Competitive Pay I Recognition I I *Your Challenge:Support the engineering department in the area of metallurgy and materials scienceProvide proper material and coating selections based on applicationProvide required justification and analyses for material selectionsProvide engineering support for material identification testsEngage in the preparation and maintenance of weld procedures and qualificationsSupport welding code implementations and interpretationsReview and analysis of welding designsWhat You Bring:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Engineering or Material Science, Metallurgy, Welding, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum of 3 years of experience in metallurgy and welding.Strong knowledge of metallurgy fundamentals.Knowledge of destructive testing practices (hardness, tensile, Charpy, Corrosion).Knowledge of failure root cause analysis methodologies, especially of metals.Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to valves and/or actuators.Familiarity with coatings and coating processes for metals and metallic parts.Working knowledge of welding processes and design.Working knowledge of ASME B&PVC Section IX or equivalents (e.g. AWS D1.1).Experience in heat treatment processes.Proficiency in welding symbols and nomenclature.Experience in a regulated industry a plus.Experience with composites is a plus.Attentive to detail while maintaining proper perspective.Who We AreEnertech, a business unit of Curtiss-Wright, is a global leader in providing valves, actuators, snubbers, pipe restraints, instrumentation, diagnostics and test equipment to the Nuclear Power Industry.
