Overview
Service Specialists are responsible for service and support functions across multiple client accounts. This includes implementing, maintaining, and enhancing control systems to ensure 24/7 facilities operations. They also support project teams in building automation system design and implementation.Responsibilities
Service and Support
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and software updates of control systems
  • Address system malfunctions or inefficiencies
  • Implement upgrades to improve system efficiency and performance
  • Monitor service channels (phone, email, chat, ticketing systems)
  • Track service metrics and KPIs to identify trends
  • Respond to incidents and outages promptly
  • Manage shift schedules and workload for 24/7 service coverage
  • Serve as escalation point for complex inquiries
  • Work with technical teams to resolve critical incidents
  • Develop and enforce incident response protocols
Instrumentation & Electrical Design
  • Create instrument lists from P&ID drawings
  • Prepare submittals and procurement documentation
  • Support panel fabrication technicians
  • Inspect completed control enclosures
System Design and Configuration
  • Attend customer design review meetings
  • Assemble development systems using project hardware
  • Configure HMI screens and user interfaces
  • Configure DDC, PLC, or DCS control algorithms
  • Draft system documentation
  • Assist in customer demonstrations and acceptance testing
  • Configure networks for equipment integration
Onsite System Startup
  • Support software and configuration installation
  • Participate in loop checks, calibration, and tuning
  • Support functional tests of systems
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies and program field modifications
  • Assist in developing commissioning test plans and redline updates
  • Contribute to training documentation and presentations
Working Conditions
  • On-call rotation for addressing critical issues
  • After rotation: Mon–Thurs schedule; otherwise, Mon–Fri
  • Travel required for installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting
  • May include shift work (nights, weekends, holidays)
Qualifications
  • Experience in service/support operations in 24/7 environments
  • Associate’s Degree in mechanical/electrical field or equivalent background
Technical Experience
  • Controls:
o Tridium: Niagara N4
o Distech: BACnet, LON, Eclypse Controllers
o Johnson Controls: Facility Explorer, Metasys
o Siemens: Apogee (PXC), Talon, DXR, Desigo CC or Insight
o Rockwell: FactoryTalk Suite, RSLogix/Studio 5000, PlantPAx DCS
  • Additional Tools: Scripting (VBA, Python), Kepware OPC, ThinManager, VMware
Preferred HVAC Knowledge
  • Basic understanding of large-scale HVAC systems
  • Familiarity with sequence of operations and P&IDs
  • Experience with functional testing and test plan execution
  • Instrumentation and control valve specification
