The Work Unit:
The Fiscal and Administrative Services Unit exists to deliver fiscal and administrative services to the management and staff of the Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division (HMWMD). These services include, but are not limited to, responsibility for daily fiscal management, including KRONOS time keeping, payments for travel reimbursements, contracts, purchase orders, fleet management, and other operational needs. The unit also oversees the collection of revenue, development of project budget estimates, and reporting of financial status on various programs.The Position Will:
This position functions as the subject matter expert for the Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division (HMWMD) in the area of accounts receivable, billing systems, and revenue reconciliation. It is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving the division's accounts receivable and revenue tracking subsystems to ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, State Fiscal Rules, and federal regulations. This position have a decision-making authority to customize sub-systems, establish processes, resolve systemic accounting problems, and ensure accurate integration between HMWMD's operational data and the State's CORE financial system.
Minimum Qualifications:
6 years of full-time professional accounting experience OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting or a business-related degree AND two years of full-time professional accounting experience.Substitutions:
Appropriate work experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis; or
Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy will substitute for the degree requirement and two years of professional accounting experience; or Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.A copy of your transcript must be submitted at the time of application (Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.)This experience must be substantiated within the Work Experience section of your application.
