Braun Intertec is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor of Geotechnical Drilling Operations to join our 100% employee-owned firm! The Operations Supervisor of Geotechnical Drilling Operations will create impact within our organization by providing direction and leadership of the Braun Intertec drilling activities. Our ideal candidate will be someone with at least 10 years of experience in geotechnical drilling and a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity. The candidate should be looking for an opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing, employee-owned organization.Braun Intertec Drilling performs subsurface investigations for geotechnical and environmental purposes within the central portion of the United States. A subsurface investigation can involve collecting soil, rock, groundwater samples, and logging the field data. These investigations take place over a wide variety of terrain, conditions, and weather, utilizing various equipment.(this position is currently open to candidates local to or willing to relocate to Minneapolis, MN)Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Safety
Conduct field quality and safety audits
Promote and adhere to safe work practices.
Aid in the development and implementation of safety programs for drilling onboarding and daily operations
DOT Compliance
Ensure DOT compliance. Maintain necessary documentation pertaining to DOT regulations regarding operations of equipment and recordkeeping. Maintain DH records & permit.
Drilling Operations
Provide technical oversight and senior level QA/QC on drilling projects
Provide oversight and coordinate workloads.
Perform project management duties for contract drilling projects.
Ability to meet production goals.
Assist with budget, P&L reporting and/or accounts payable responsibilities.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair
Maintain maintenance records regarding the repair and general condition of the drill rigs, support trucks and other equipment
Ensure all offices are compliant with individual state rules and regulations with regards to drilling activities
Training and Development
Assist with establishing and refining strategic direction for the drilling department
Responsible for staffing, training & scheduling
Mentorship of drilling staff
Other duties and responsibilities
Act as backup for drilling field staff
Assist drilling field staff with subsurface investigation projects, as requested
Act as a liaison between engineering and environmental consulting
Travel to all offices and project sites when needed to provide technical assistance and expertise
Assist in development of best practices for drilling
Assist in coordination of monthly drilling safety meetings
Daily management of Drilling staff and equipment
Aid in maintaining the drilling QMP
Assist in rig condition surveys and replacement schedules
Assist in ordering new equipment
Required Skills and Minimum Qualifications
Valid Drivers license and acceptable driving record, a CDL A is strongly preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent, some post-secondary education is preferred
10+ years of experience working in a geotechnical drilling environment
5+ years of experience working in a supervisory capacity overseeing field operations (or related business management background)
Must be located within a commutable distance to Bloomington, MN or willing to relocate.
Must be willing to travel as needed, sometimes requiring overnights and weekends, up to 15%
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to develop multiple client relationships.
Ability to work independently on assignments of limited scope, or as part of a team on more complex projects.
Strong organizations skills with attention to detail, people, systems and processes.
Ability to understand and work in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols.
Ability to lead, manage, and develop staff.
Understanding of business practices including effective management of P&L.
Ability to exercise creative and innovative thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-discipline projects.
Ability to assess client needs and determine most appropriate fit solution to meet expectations and fulfill strategic objectives.
Project management skills, including planning, statements of work, budgets, and scheduling.
Ability to develop and present training materials to staff.
Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple priorities.
Ability to establish relationships with individuals and teams at all levels of Braun Intertec and client organizations.
Understanding of the development, integration and management of Quality Management Systems.
