- Network Architecture and Engineering: Provide deep technical expertise, guidance and support to network engineering and operations team members and Architecture peers across several key network infrastructure environments, including: Data Center Core, Data Center mesh (regional/national), Cloud networks, Cloud service partner integration, Distribution Centers, Retail/Small Business, Remote Access, Security zone designs, Security standards and practices, application performance, network monitoring and management tools.
- Network Knowledge and Experience: In-depth knowledge and proficiency of networking protocols and solutions: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VXLANs, SDN, SDWAN, ACI/Spine/Leaf.
- Network Systems Hardware and Software: Evaluate new system hardware and software, review hardware/software updates, plan the installation and testing of new versions of network systems or components, troubleshoot network problems and advise on the correct and effective use of hardware/software.
- Innovation/Research: Monitor and seek opportunities, new methods, trends, capabilities, and products to the advancement of the organization.
- IT Governance: Support the work of the governing authority/board, lead the review of management processes (and decisions) for compliance with the organization's strategy for corporate governance of information and develop architecture policies and standards.
- IT Strategy & Planning: Contribute to the policies, standards and guidelines for how the organization conducts IT strategy development and planning and lead the creation or review of an IT strategy which meets the requirements of the business.
- Relationship Management: Develop long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, maintain a strong understanding of industry and business and act as a subject matter expert on technology.
- Work closely with product management, IT systems development teams, Infrastructure engineers, and the IT Risk Management/Security teams to understand requirements and participate in design discussions.
- Responsible for leading the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of ULTA’s initiatives in hybrid hosting strategy, on premise as well cloud computing environment, with a focus on the design of network systems and services.
- Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and other cloud services.
- Responsible for conducting performance, scalability, and reliability tests of network tools and services integrating application workload on premise as well as cloud applications.
- Responsible for ULTA’s strategy for Datacenters, Cloud, Store and Distribution center network design and optimization and ensuring scalability and future-proofing.
- Research new technology and lead the selection process for tools and services.
- Develop a library of deployable and documented cloud design patterns, based on the ULTA’s application portfolio, as a basis for deploying network services to the cloud.
- Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.
- Publish standards and best practices around network & security services.
- Reports into the Network Engineering & Architecture team and will be supporting architecture, engineering and (network) operations teams and best practices.
- Provide third level support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or applicable work experience.
- 10+ years of overall experience in networking including architecture, design and development.
- 5+ years demonstrated leadership experience in complex business and technical environments.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Network infrastructure (On premise as well as cloud) architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, Network, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)
- Demonstrate knowledge to design optimal (Structured and un-structured) patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for large scale enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience with network hardware, software, and automation including: Cisco, Palo Alto, HPE/Aruba, VMWare, F5, Python, Ansible, SolarWinds.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and optimize network performance.
- Demonstrate knowledge of network tools and processes.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change.
