Maintenance Apprentice

- Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in the preventive and corrective maintenance of CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers.
- Support troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Learn to diagnose alarms, faults, and failure modes using service manuals and diagnostic tools.
- Help perform machine alignments, lubrication, filter changes, and component replacements.
- Observe and assist with repairs to spindles, servos, drives, motors, and control systems (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, etc.).
- Maintain accurate records of work performed using the company’s CMMS (e.g., MaintainX).
- Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
- Participate in on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and safety programs as required.
- Communicate effectively with technicians, machine operators, and supervisors.
- Complete Stark State College enrollment Compass test
- Maintain a C (or equivalent) average or higher in each class
- Travel to, and attend classroom training at Stark State College
- Complete related classroom reading, assignments, projects, tests, and any other coursework assigned by Stark State
- Successfully complete Internal Training (On the Job Training) requirements as defined by National Machine Group.
- Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
- Other duties, reporting, special assignments or projects as needed and assigned.
- At least 18 years of age

- Willing and able to work flexible hours and shifts to meet training requirements and needs
- Prior continuous employment that demonstrates a commitment to sustained employment
- Physical Requirements include ability to stand for long periods of time, walk between workstations, and lift up to 40 lbs. repeatedly
- Must be willing to submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with NMG Aerospace (i.e., drug screen, background check, eye exam, hearing exam, etc.) and any subsequent testing required for the position during employment
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or shop floor to access work supplies, tools, machinery, etc.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Apprentices must travel to, and attend classroom training at Stark State College and successfully complete related classroom assignments with a grade of C (or equivalent) or above
