Process multiple payroll cycles, with overall responsibility for one cycle and backup of other cycles. Work on accounting related tasks including salary expenses and accruals, expatriate process, employee tax setup, general ledger reconciliations and payroll tax filing.Job DescriptionResponsibilities
- Process various payroll cycles and participate in year-end reporting.
- Lead or participate in payroll projects as a key contributor.
- Administer the expatriate process and work with outside tax counsel regarding expatriate payroll updates.
- Train payroll specialists and provide guidance as needed.
- Handle employee tax setup for different states and localities.
- Create journal entries for payroll transactions and corrected W-2 transactions; reconcile complex general ledger payroll accounts.
- Reconcile payroll taxes and work with tax vendor in filing employment tax returns.
- Research tax notices and consult with employment tax agencies and/or tax vendor for resolution.
- Review and analyze benefits file from third party benefits administrator to determine deductions and load for payroll.
- Prepare and analyze payroll metrics and reports to balance payroll cycles.
- Handle escalated payroll processing issues.
- Respond to inquiries related to payroll accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or equivalent education/experience
- Five years of payroll experience in a large organization
- In-depth knowledge of accounting practices related to payroll and payroll tax rules
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Research and problem-solving skills
- Communication, customer service and interpersonal skills to exchange/deliver technical information
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll practices
- Knowledge of Workday
