Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, perform entry-level tasks in the operation, maintenance and functions of programming and events within the Recreation department; perform entry level athletics operations; perform outdoor leader ship roles; maintain and operate city equipment, facilities, materials, supplies, records and reports.Hours/Schedule of Work: Various Hours Working as Directed, Monday - Sunday, 19 Hours/Week. Hours will vary with seasons.Will perform hands-on tasks; including but is not limited to, the operation of inflatable equipment (movie screens, bouncy castles), sounds systems, electrical boxes and cords, score keeping, basic field preparation, sports equipment and materials operation.Lead groups of individuals in numerous variations of recreational activities and operate recreation programming offered by Lewiston Parks and Recreation under the direction of the Recreation Coordinators.Facilitate programming by preparing fields, facilities, parks and operating materials and equipment necessary to uphold the standards provided in trainings, staff manuals and city code.Potentially driving various types of vehicles; four-wheelers, mid-sized vehicles, 12 passenger vans/busses with or without passengers; all while operating within the confines of the law.Represent the City of Lewiston by adhering to Parks and Recreation's mission statement and promoting programming opportunities offered by our department or departments that benefit the community in healthy active lifestyles.Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver License
  • Current High School Student or High School Diploma or GED
Abilities:
  • Follow Direction from Admin Staff.
  • Retain Information Given in Trainings/Manuals.
  • Work Well Under Pressure.
  • Good Problem Solving Characteristics.
  • Work Well with Others or Individually.
  • Lift Approximately 50lbs.
  • Affinity for Leadership Roles.
  • Customer Service Skills
Knowledge:
  • Basics in Electronics: Sounds Systems, Computers, Apple Products, Score Panels
  • Entry Level Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Adobe Applications, Social Media, Google Applications
  • Entry Level Athletics and Outdoor Leadership: Set-up and Operation
  • Knowledge of Parks and Recreation Programming
Recreation Leaders are expected to conduct their responsibilities in various weather conditions. Precautions will be made by admin staff to keep participants and staff safe from severe/dangerous weather. Staff should expect to be physically active for various lengths of time during working hours.
