JOB TITLE: Field Training Officer (FTO)
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Medical Services
REPORTS TO: Emergency Medical Services DirectorJOB SUMMARY:
An EMS Field Training Officer (FTO) is responsible for training, mentoring, and evaluating new or less experienced personnel in prehospital emergency medical care. They bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, ensuring new recruits are competent and confident in their roles. FTOs also play a crucial role in ongoing professional development of employees, providing feedback and remedial training as needed.The Paramedic (NRP) or Advanced NREMT or EMT-B provides direct and indirect care through the Policies, Protocols, and Guidelines set by Cody Regional Health (CRH), Cody Regional Health Emergency Medical Services (CRH-EMS), and the State of Wyoming Office of EMS (OEMS); and is accountable for and provides care within the set standards of practice. They are a member of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team, and must work with Fire Department Personnel, Law Enforcement, and other healthcare providers to deliver care to ill and injured patients in the out-of-hospital as well as hospital setting.The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. They must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Currently licensed as one of the following:
  • Wyoming EMT-Paramedic and National Registry – Paramedic
  • Wyoming Advanced EMT and National Registry EMT – Advanced
  • Wyoming EMT-Basic
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of EMS pre-hospital preferred.SKILLS
  • Must have excellent leadership skills.
  • Good driving skills are essential.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
  • Must have well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have ability to quickly and calmly react to life threatening situations.
  • Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people of different cultural backgrounds and educational levels.
  • Ability to assess and treat patients to the US DOT and Wyoming Office of EMS at the Paramedic NRP, Advanced NREMT, or EMT-Basic level.
  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality of all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles.
  • Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new computer software applications.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
AHA Healthcare as BLS Provider. Current clean Wyoming Driver’s License.Additional for Paramedics:
ACLS Provider, PALS or EMSC Advanced Provider; PHTLS Advanced Provider.
