- Develops and teaches discipline-related courses with focus on Iñupiaq language (including grammar), history, and Alaska Native Tribal governance.
- Prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, syllabi, course curriculum, and College catalog copy.
- With the Iñupiaq Studies Program Chair, completes annual program assessment and data collection, necessary to remain compliant with accreditation standards
- Evaluates student performance and submits appropriate grades and reports, as required.
- Maintains active communication with program advisory committee, external partners (as needed), and students.
- Recruits and supports adjunct faculty as needed.
- Maintains office hours, as required.
- Serves as academic advisor to Iñupiaq Studies Program students.
- Participates in professional development, as appropriate.
- Completes reports and presentations, and attends meetings and special events, as required.
- Actively participates in College and community service including serving on internal committees, local community and task forces, and other College activities.

- Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development.
- Demonstrated experience with distance delivery.
- Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
- Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
- Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
- Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.
- [Instructor level] Associate’s degree or equivalent experience/knowledge* in Iñupiaq Studies, Alaska Native Studies, Rural Development, Tribal Governance, or related discipline.
- [Assistant Professor level] Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/knowledge* in Iñupiaq Studies, Alaska Native Studies, Rural Development, Tribal Governance.
- A minimum of two [2] years’ teaching experience in the appropriate field.
- A recognized expert in Iñupiaq language, history, and/or Alaska Native Tribal governance.
- [Assistant Professor level] Master’s degree or equivalent experience/knowledge* in Iñupiaq Studies, Alaska Native Studies, Rural Development, Tribal Governance.
- Valid driver’s license.
