The State of Wyoming offers an excellent benefits package, including insurance, retirement, paid leave, and more!This position will supervise a crew of inmate workers providing daily instruction and training in the Laundry Services at the Wyoming State Penitentiary. This position is responsible for the general oversight of the laundry department and its operations.Human Resource Contact: 307-328-7426ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
  • Administers and interprets vocational and pre-vocational evaluations.
  • Provides meaningful and productive hands-on training on a vocation or trade.
  • Manage the laundry services for the entire facility.
  • Evaluate inmate workers' job performance and enter/track their payroll.
  • Develops training objectives, standards, and other essential items to ensure quality training meeting students/inmates' needs.
  • Facilitates meetings to evaluate department policies and procedures.
  • Through research, develop new training manuals for the department.
  • Ability to instruct students/inmates.
  • Maintains files following departmental regulations.
  • Attends professional development related to subject areas.
  • Adheres to state, facility, and federal guidelines related to student/inmate education programs.
  • Adheres to and ensures the inmates adhere to all WDOC policies and procedures.
QualificationsPREFERENCES:Preferences may be given to those with 2-4 years of supervisory experience and knowledge of the laundry industry.KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles, methods, and techniques of a vocational trade.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of education, psychology, human development, and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of job coaching techniques, record keeping and data collection, employment counseling, and direction, quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in Education)Experience:0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational Training TechnicianOREducation & Experience Substitution:3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Vocational Training TechnicianCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:NoneNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Must be able to stand and walk on a concrete floor for long periods of time.
  • Candidate may be required to lift 65 pounds.
  • Candidates must be able to lift or retrieve items, move materials and boxes from overhead locations or shelves onto or off of vehicles, and in and out of storage areas outside the facility.
