Northwest Highway suite 120, Dallas, Texas 75231This position will float across multiple Texas Health Urgent Care locations.The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing direct consumer care to assigned consumers within an urgent care setting. This position works under limited direction yet in coordination with an APP lead. Typical work scenarios require specialized knowledge, critical thinking, sound judgment based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences skills, as well as strong customer service skills. Internal contacts include medical staff and management throughout the clinic and health system. External contacts include consumers, physicians, outside medical staff, and community resource services.EducationMaster's Degree Nursing or Physician Assistant required and * Bachelors Degree Physician Assistant accepted If graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program prior to January 2021 requiredGraduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program requiredExperience
  • 6 Months as an APP in an urgent care, or emergency department setting required or
  • 1 Year Family practice or related field required
  • Suturing experience strongly preferred
Licenses and CertificationsRN - Registered Nurse with the state of Texas upon hire required andNP - Nurse Practitioner with Texas Licensure and Certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the Texas State Board upon hire required andNational Certification or eligible for certification as Nurse Practitioner upon hire required OrPA - Physician Assistant with the state of Texas upon hire required andTexas Licensure and Certificate to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the Texas State Board upon hire required andNational Certification or eligible for certification as Physician Assistant upon hire required andValid Drug Enforcement Agency license upon hire requiredBCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (through AHA or American Red Cross), maintained every 2 years required within 30 days of hireEssential FunctionsPerforms and provides treatments for minor acute illness, consumer examinations, making initial assessment, initiating treatment and referring to appropriate center of care when applicable.Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.Instructs and counsels consumers by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information and promoting wellness and health maintenance.Develops and implements consumer management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
