- Provide patient education including pamphlets, articles, and electronic material. Arrange any pertinent patient education needed from the provider.
- Conduct clinical assessment prior to each infusion and determines safety and appropriateness of scheduled infusion.
- Perform drug reconstitution according to FDA and WAGI guidelines.
- Administer biologic and non-biologic medications.
- Start, maintain, and discontinue Intravenous lines.
- Program, start, monitor, and troubleshoot IV pump
- Complete regulatory training for clinical research and engage in Study related activities as needed including administration of investigational drugs.
- Monitor patients during infusions to provide ongoing assessment and patient safety.
- The infusion nurse will follow protocols and will recognize and respond immediately to changes in patient condition.
- Function as primary liaison between patients and physicians.
- Schedule infusions and office visits as appropriate.
- Responsible for patient follow up (i.e., labs, changes in orders, follow up office visits, procedures, etc.).
- Order associated medications and supplies.
- Demonstrate responsibility for personal and professional growth and effective communication.
- Participate in insurance approvals and denials in conjunction with billing department and clinic staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current RN license to practice professional nursing in the State of Washington
- Current BLS certification
- One-year experience working in a med-surg, infusion or related field is preferred
- Strong IV skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology and billing practices, including CPT codes
- Ability to maintain sustained concentration and attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions, conflicting demands, and deadlines
- Completes work in the time allotted and seeks other duties when time allows
- Exhibits strong listening skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with other team members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel occasionally
- Ability to assist patients supporting weight, assisting in positioning of patients, etc.
- Ability to grasp small objects and manipulate medical instruments
- Ability to reach including reaching overhead and below waist
- Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently, occasional lifting 25 pounds
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Occasional local travel may be required to other locations on an as-needed basis to back-fill for vacations, etc.
