Area 5: All other applicants who meet qualification standards.DutiesAs a SOCIAL WORKER, GS-0185-11, you will actively support the commander's leadership team in addressing the psychological health of their installation. Conduct assessments, routine and crisis evaluations, psycho-diagnostic assessments, provides short-term, evidence-based problem resolution strategies and services. Provide on-site and telephonic access to psychological health assessments and individual consultation to facilitate coordination of clinical, counseling, and other services promoting the psychological health of NG members and their families. Conduct pre/post deployment clearances and Deployment Health Assessment (DHA) closeouts. Designs, develops, coordinates, and implements prevention and community outreach and education programs. Implements community organization strategies in collaboration with the Integrated Delivery System (IDS) Team and other key organizations to increase awareness of psychological health, develop coordinated plans for reducing risk factors for individuals and within the community, and build and enhance a general culture that promotes psychological health and wellness. Responsible for marketing and marketing evaluation activities. Serves as primary consultant and advisor on methods to successfully market the Air National Guard PHP. Provide professional consultation, advice, education, and training to other military and nonmilitary health care professionals, medical personnel, military commanders/senior leaders, wing personnel and their family members, and community agencies concerning primary and secondary prevention programs. Prepare agenda for meetings, compiles statistical data, and prepares a variety of recurring reports. Develop meeting agendas. Perform other duties as assigned.RequirementsConditions of employment

  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • Master’s in social work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is highly desired. Candidate must be a qualified Mental Health professional IAW AFI 44-119.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands.
  • Must be privileged for independent practice by the Credentials Committee at the employing Medical Treatment Facility.
  • A minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work is highly desired.
  • Position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) in accordance with local MDG policies. Must be obtained within 6 months of onboarding.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Incumbent may share on-call duty during weeknights and/or weekends on a rotational basis as required consistent with other mental health professionals of the same specialty performing like duties.
  • This position may be identified as having "regular contact with children," requiring a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for the position.
  • Completion of appropriate clinical and administrative duties may involve "after-hour" care or work in addition to regular duty hours.
  • Must maintain credentials requirements at all times (i.e. current and unrestricted state license, BLS, clinical competencies, etc.) IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119. 6/14/2022 TCPC Cramner.
QualificationsGENERAL EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources is mandatory.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months of experience in clinical social work assignments. Completion of the Air Force Social Work Internship Program may be substituted for 12 months of the specialized experience requirement. This experience must demonstrate competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Experience in applying social work practices, principles, and theories to develop and implement comprehensive primary and secondary prevention programs that address effective programs to prevent or lessen the impact of a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems such as sociopathic personalities and family groups who react to their circumstances with impulsive behavior that may be self-destructive or depredatory; provide training for other health care professionals and other installation personnel on issues related to the promotion of psychological health; coordinate programs; and enlist the aid of community organizations/agencies. Experience diagnosing a wide array of psychological problems and disorders that affect adults, families, and organizations and the varied resources needed to treat them; directly applying professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families. Experience using psychological and social work methods and theory in an outpatient clinical setting and providing consultation for health care providers and military leaders. Experience in oral and written communication to include report writing and maintaining proper records to document services provided, including patient care, follow up, and referrals. Experience administering and interpreting select psychological and needs-assessment measures.EducationDEGREE: Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of social work, accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and acceptable to the Surgeon General.
