- Provide support for critical infrastructure and animal life and safety IT systems used in laboratory animal research, including animal management software, environmental monitoring systems, and specialized research equipment interfaces.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support technology roadmaps, infrastructure changes and software upgrades to meet the evolving needs of laboratory animal research.
- Participate in activities related to University Critical Infrastructure groups such as CI Infrastructure Change Management and CI – Service Now User Groups.
- Assist with ASR reviews and IT security/resiliency discussions and reviews related to LAR systems.
- Leverage ServiceNow and other University standard tools and procedures for change, incident and asset management and Critical Infrastructure categorization of services.
- Stay updated on industry trends and keep relevant technical certifications to align with best practices in laboratory animal research IT management.Software Application Support:
- Manage and support software applications used in laboratory animal research operations, ensuring their reliability, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain user accounts and ensure system access controls are properly configured.
- Serve as technical subject matter expert and administrator for running software applications for laboratory animal operations. This includes access management, integrations management, upgrades, and reporting aspects of the system.
- Support departmental processes to meet external and internal compliance requirements for laboratory animal research systems.
- Partner with OIT and vendors in the support, extension and upgrade of the software applications.
- Develop and support in-house technology and inventory systems used in laboratory animal research as needed.
- Participate in the implementation of new technology solutions for laboratory animal research.Desktop/Computing Support:
- Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners and other electronic equipment used in laboratory animal research settings.
- Ensure alignment with departmental procedures for IT systems and hardware.
- Facilitate the management of IT equipment in compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements using systems such as ServiceNow.
- Help inform recommendations regarding hardware/software configurations and technology procurement decisions.
- Coordinate technology maintenance and support activities with other departments and external vendors as needed by the Laboratory Animal Resources department.
- Provide inputs to help manage contracts with application vendors and oversee the installation, upgrades, and servicing of Laboratory Animal Resources software applications.
- Ensure appropriate user documentation is available for laboratory animal research systems and applications.
- Serve as the liaison between the Laboratory Animal Resources department and the institution's IT and other campus departments as well as vendor teams.Data Analysis, Reporting, and AI Support:
- Contribute to the development of data models, ETL packages, and business intelligence reports to support organizational initiatives and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Actively participate in the implementation of emerging technologies, with a focus on AI capabilities and automation solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of AI infrastructure, tools, and frameworks to ensure alignment with industry best practices.
- Collaborate in architecture and security reviews of systems involving integrations, data analytics platforms, and AI technologies to ensure compliance and operational integrity.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in providing IT support in a research or laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting diverse IT services and systems.
- Strong communication, project management, and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of AI, cybersecurity, data protection, programming/scripting, and backup systems.
- Experience in training technical and non-technical end-users.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Willingness to stay updated on emerging technologies relevant to laboratory animal research.
- Availability for 24/7 support and response to emergencies as needed.
- Certifications in Microsoft and Apple products preferred.
- System analyst or developer experience
- Knowledge of laboratory IT systems
