The Technician Assistant supports the installation, maintenance, and servicing of security systems, structured cabling, and AV systems for commercial and industrial clients. This role assists with handling various types of equipment, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, network cabling, and audiovisual components. The assistant will work under the supervision of a lead technician, helping with troubleshooting, repairs, and ensuring that systems function properly to support security, communication, and AV needs.Duties/Responsibilities:Installation Support
  • Assist in installing security systems, structured cabling, and AV equipment, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, network cabling, and audiovisual components.
  • Help ensure proper cable routing, equipment placement, and connectivity for optimal system functionality.
  • Aid in system configuration and initial testing to confirm performance.
Maintenance & Repair Assistance
  • Support regular inspections and maintenance of security, structured cabling, and AV systems.
  • Help troubleshoot issues such as malfunctioning cameras, access control failures, connectivity problems, or AV system errors.
  • Assist in replacing or repairing cables, equipment, and components as directed by the lead technician.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Help maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist in completing service reports and documenting system updates.
  • Follow safety guidelines and ensure all work complies with industry regulations and best practices.
Experience & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in security systems, structured cabling, or AV installations (preferred but not required).
  • Basic knowledge of access control, surveillance, network cabling, or AV systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with computer networking related to IP security and AV systems is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and indoor installation.
