Our client specializes in the construction industry.Position Summary:
The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, collaborating with project managers, superintendents, and the finance team to ensure accurate job cost tracking, billing, forecasting, and reporting.Key Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle accounting for construction projects from setup to closeout
- Prepare and review forecast worksheets, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition
- Lead monthly forecasting process for project revenue and costs
- Monitor budgets, cost-to-complete, and margin analysis
- Assist with accounts receivable collection and billing dispute resolution
- Review AIA billings, change orders, and subcontractor pay applications
- Ensure accurate recording and classification of project costs
- Reconcile job costs, investigate discrepancies, and support month-end close
- Mentor junior project accountants and assist with audit requests
- 5+ years of construction accounting experience with at least 2 years in project accounting
- Knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP schedules, and forecasting
- Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE/Timberline)
- Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA a plus)
- Experience in multi-entity and intercompany accounting
- Familiarity with union labor reporting and prevailing wage projects
