Department Overview:The 5A/5C Family Medicine Unit is a 26-bed unit (17 beds on 5A, 9 beds on 5C) that provides service to patient populations ages 18-100+ who have a variety of medical, acute care diagnoses. The patient is generally medically stable and requires acute medical and nursing interventions such as intravenous fluids, tube feedings, pain management, respiratory care, antibiotics, remote telemetry, prepping for procedures, behavioral and/or crisis management. The conditions most commonly seen on 5A/5C include but are not limited to: congestive heart failure, COPD, ESLD, chronic liver disease, pneumonia, sepsis, hypertension, hypotension, diabetes, ESRD, acute renal failure, AMS, CF, chronic pain, inflammatory bowel disease, GI bleed, esophageal bleed, ETOH/drug withdrawal, chronic mental disorders, acute exacerbation of mental disorders, patients with a tracheostomy and stable respiratory status, respiratory distress, UTI, vascular disease, general pre-op and post-op. 14C Medicine is a 31-bed acute care medicine unit. Function/Duties of Position:The 14C Medicine unit provides service to patient populations ages 18-100+ who have a variety of medical, acute care diagnoses and some cardiac conditions, such as atrial arrhythmias and NSTEMI cases. Patients require acute medical and nursing interventions such as intravenous fluids, tube feedings, pain management, respiratory care, including tracheostomy and stable ventilators, cystic fibrosis, antibiotics administration, diabetes management, heart failure care, endocarditis therapy, detox, behavioral and/or crisis management.The NM also serves as the Manager Liaison for the Division of Hospital Medicine.Required Qualifications:
BSN or higher degree in nursing.
And
Master’s degree in nursing or related field (e.g. MBA with Healthcare Administration concentration, Public Health)
OR Enrolled in nursing or related graduate program within 2 years and completion within 5 years.
Five years of experience as a registered nurse in a related clinical area of practice And
Two years recent formal or informal management/leadership experience.
Unencumered Oregon RN License
BLS for healthcare provider
Professional certification in nursing leadership-Nurse Executive/Administrator within 3 years of assuming the manager role
Experience in complex organization environments.
Ability to effectively manage multiple conflicting priorities.
Proficient with word processing, computational spreadsheet (e.g., Excel), and presentation software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred NE-BC or NEA-BC certification.
Leadership Experience preferred.
