- Preparing weekly distribution reports, both internally and for use by external participants in the national multi-level Reload pool. Assessing weekly fleet utilization metrics and distributing them to the relevant parties. Advising management and peers accordingly of deficits/surpluses. Identifying and addressing railcar management issues with carriers, managers, and peers daily. Updating other relevant distribution reports using InfoAssist, Excel, etc. to create and maintain KPIs.
- Gather, analyze and interpret data and present findings to both internal and external stakeholders including Railroad clients and TTX Senior Leadership.
- Managing empty railcar queues to ensure sufficient railcar supply for individual shippers through preparation of individual queue reports and monitoring the associated empty railcar pipelines. Primary interface on all shipper issues with railroad and fleet management. Managing shipper-specific relationships. Identifying opportunities to improve/ clarify existing processes, increase fleet efficiency and promote the equitable treatment of pool participants.
- Assisting with updates to car initials, rack attributes, active statuses, costs, and maintenance records. Monitoring both internal and foreign owned production forecasts to gauge their health and progress. Developing an understanding of the flow of equipment to and from shops, along with a knowledge of car classes and requirements for program candidacy. When necessary, gives assistance to foreign entities in order to capture equipment identified for program work etc.
- Assisting in special projects and reports as assigned. Developing and maintaining computer programs and spreadsheets. Publishing relevant documentation to internal and external customers while aiding in the development of new reports on railcar metrics via Business Intelligence tools.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, preferably within the academic fields of Economics, Communications, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Business Analytics/Management. One to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools - Power BI, Microsoft SQL server, Tableau, SAS - preferred
- The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of fleet participant companies.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Create a Business Plan that drives the Company's plan for new car builds and modifications. The business plan reflects the economy, freight markets, and any changes in freight strategies.
- Day-to-day management of the TTX Company's Intermodal, General Equipment and Automotive fleets.
- Manage procurement of new rail cars, components and other materials used to support TTX fleet maintenance.
- Manage the North American Boxcar Pool and the Automotive Reload pool, which includes rail cars supplied by owners other than TTX.
- Provide in-depth analysis of the economy, the rail industry and its competitors.
