School-Age Child Care Site DirectorJob Title: School-Age Child Care Site DirectorFLSA Status: NonexemptJob Grade: 5Reports to: Area Child Care Director or Regional CC DirectorPosition Summary: Establishes and promotes a cause driven program that is a
safe, consistent, and academically stimulating environment at assigned child care sites by performing the following duties.Essential Functions include the following: other duties may be assigned:
  • Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  • Oversees staff supervision and daily program operations at the assigned site. Prepares site daily for arrival of children and cleans up space at conclusion of program following the COVID related virus control policies. Maintains overall cleanliness and organization of program storage area(s).
  • Assesses the needs, interests, and ability of the children in the program and adapts activities to the needs/levels of each child. Integrates children into a group environment with team building activities.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings with on-site staff.
  • Implements and actively participates in all daily activities, curriculum, and schedule in cooperation with the Area Child Care Director; including Y Kids Are Fit, nutrition education, STEM, homework assistance and following HEPA standards.
  • Trains all on-site staff regarding ODJFS licensing rules and YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the site's compliance with all ODJFS licensing requirements including keeping required paperwork current.
  • Maintains inventory and recommends purchases, replacement or repair of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains written records and reports as required on individual children.
  • Conducts program and licensing orientations for site staff.
  • Attends all staff meetings, child care workshops, specialized training and safety training as required.
  • Manages curriculum planning for the assigned site; completes lesson plans, supervises, develops and implements programming, including (but not limited to) homework assistance, Y Kids are Fit, Nutrition Education, STEM activities and all YMCA curriculum requirements.
  • Provides assistance to other Y Club / child care programs as needed.
  • Maintains good relationships and communicates regularly with children, parents, school/host staff, community and YMCA staff.
  • If applicable, complete duties as required by the Child and Adult Care Food program for your site(s)/center.
  • If applicable, reviews PFCC (Title XX) and Kinderconnect websites to review time, attendance and payments; communicates issues with the registrar.
  • Completes all tracking and data collection for funding and projects as designated by supervisor.
  • Participates in special events at schools and YMCA branches.
  • Actively promotes Y Club program and YMCA/Branch programs to Y Club families, school and community.
  • Provides 3-5 hours of assistance in the school each week based on school needs (examples include aide to teacher, assistance with PTO and/or special events, office work, lunchroom/playground attendant, etc). Your supervisor must accompany you in an initial meeting with a school representative to determine potential needs for assistance in schools.
  • Assists with YMCA branch duties as assigned by the Regional/Area Child Care Director.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have completed at least 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of college coursework in child development, elementary education, or a related field; experience supervising in a childcare setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience determined by using Career Pathway level. Must meet ODJFS requirements for Site Administrators.
  • Must submit all required paperwork for ODJFS licensing. Must submit a staff medical statement as required by ODJFS standards. Must obtain and keep current training certifications in first aid, communicable diseases, child abuse recognition & prevention as required by ODJFS. Must attend all necessary YMCA, child care and/or grant related training.
  • Must attend and maintain in-service hours as required by ODJFS and YMCA guidelines and specialized training hours for the SUTQ level of site.
