Contract Length: 6 months + likely extensionsJob DescriptionThis role is for a Senior SQL Database Administrator responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex Microsoft SQL databases and data warehouses, while supporting performance, troubleshooting, and large-scale system upgrades. The position requires expertise in SQL, ETL processes, SDLC/ALM practices, and Agile methodologies, with strong collaboration skills to work across business and technical teams in a remote, full-time contract capacity.What You’ll DoMaintain, improve, and create new complex Microsoft SQL database objects including but not limited to stored procedures and functionsTroubleshoot and resolve database performance issuesDesign, document, create, unit and system test, deploy, and maintain databases including data warehousesCollaborate with the business and other teams to develop and implement business rules for the data warehouseSupport the development team with database-related issuesDevelop reference and workflow documents for documentation purposesIdentify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to advise the Data Manager, Director of Business Systems, and/or Chief Information OfficerReview project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish tasksDiscover and contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of Informatics functional architecture and systems design to deliver IT outcomesOther duties as assignedWhat You'll NeedRequired:Minimum 6 years of experience or equivalent higher education. Preferred experience in healthcare claims environment and reporting development, n-tier development and support, and Microsoft SQL database development including relational and star schema data warehousesMicrosoft data systems certifications such as MTA, MCSA, MCSE, ITIL v3, or equivalent2-year degree required. Applicable certifications may substitute equivalent degree requirementsAdvanced knowledge of SQL and MS SQL Server operating systemsExperience with Visual Studio for database projects (currently on 2019 Pro or Enterprise)Expertise in database development, maintenance, and execution of mission-critical large-scale system upgradesAdvanced knowledge in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data warehousingUnderstanding of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principlesFamiliarity with Azure Dev Ops as a platform for demand repository, workflow management, and source control/code promotionProficiency in Agile methodologies, including User Stories, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment, and Automated testingStrong problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills for interaction with various stakeholdersAbility to work independently and unsupervised, setting and adjusting priorities as neededPhysical DemandsAbility to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA and other federal, state, and local standardsSedentary work involving sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional movement around the office.Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer using a mouse, keyboard, and monitorPowered by JazzHR
