Responsibilities
- Safely collect blood samples from both in-patients and out-patients using proper venipuncture, and heel-stick techniques
- Responsible for maintaining integrity of blood samples
- Verify patient identification
- Assure safety and comfort of patient by following established standards
- Adhere to Customer Service Excellence
- Collect morning blood draws from in-patients on assigned nursing units
- Perform venipuncture on out-patients during office hours on Saturdays
- May be asked to assist 'sweep phlebotomist' for the 10 AM blood draws, if needed
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Passed an accreditated course including clinical experience or have 1 year of continuous phlebotomy experience
- Phlebotomy Certification preferred
- Must be able to perform venipuncture and processing of lab samples for in-house and reference laboratory testing
- Operate simple medical laboratory equipment i.e. centrifuge
