Responsibilities
  • Safely collect blood samples from both in-patients and out-patients using proper venipuncture, and heel-stick techniques
  • Responsible for maintaining integrity of blood samples
  • Verify patient identification
  • Assure safety and comfort of patient by following established standards
  • Adhere to Customer Service Excellence
  • Collect morning blood draws from in-patients on assigned nursing units
  • Perform venipuncture on out-patients during office hours on Saturdays
  • May be asked to assist 'sweep phlebotomist' for the 10 AM blood draws, if needed
Requirements
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Passed an accreditated course including clinical experience or have 1 year of continuous phlebotomy experience
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred
  • Must be able to perform venipuncture and processing of lab samples for in-house and reference laboratory testing
  • Operate simple medical laboratory equipment i.e. centrifuge
