The Cardiology Medical Assistant provides direct quality care and treatment to patients requiring Cardiovascular-related services. Promotes patient’s physical comfort and provides emotional support to the patient and family.Responsibilities:
- Responds to all calls in a professional manner.
- Takes accurate messages and ensures delivery to appropriate personnel.
- Documents telephone contacts per policies and procedures.
- Competently relays phone messages regarding symptomatic patients, ensuring legibility and accuracy.
- Refers telephone messages to appropriate personnel.
- Facilitates provider assessments by gathering information according to established policies and procedures.
- Previews medical records (M.R.) charts prior to appointments, ensuring all pertinent records are included.
- Monitors patient status during specialized procedures and gathers relevant data.
- Documents appropriate patient care information in the M.R. chart and maintains it.
- Administers medication, treatments, and tests as ordered, adhering to state statutes and policies.
- Acts as a patient advocate in coordinating and delivering quality care.
- Consistently strives to meet patient expectations for service, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Completes patient teaching using established protocols as required.
- Facilitates communication and team involvement among providers, staff, patients, and service partners.
- Shares information timely and accurately.
- Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures, including safety and confidentiality standards.
- Pursues professional development and supports staff training.
- Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
- Participates in quality management activities.
- Assists with projects as assigned by the supervisor
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program (preferred)
- Basic Life Support Certification (required)
- 2-4 years of related experience (preferred)
- Strong organizational, project, and time management skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general PC use
- Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records
- Bilingual (preferred)
- Prolonged sitting at a computer.
- Extensive telephone use and multitasking ability.
- Detail-oriented date processing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift light objects and retrieve files.
