
Senior Data Scientist

- Apply appropriate mathematical methods to statistically analyze a data sets using R or Python
- Being able to work with one or more of the following: Databricks, Qlik, Tableau, ArcGIS, GitHub, Oracle, ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Suite, Python programming, data visualization, and SQL
- Modeling and simulation to include predictive and formulaic, discrete event simulation (DES), and network analysis
- Conceptualize, plan, design, and develop deep learning/artificial intelligence algorithms for multi-objective optimization and decision-making tools focused on solving resource allocation/prioritization problems.
- Apply experience in implementing the Data Analysis Epicycle and performing multiple correspondence analysis (MCA), principal component analysis (PCA), and association rule mining.
- Develop algorithms in a High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment using custom multi-core desktop computers and Microsoft MPI
- Produce executive level summary reports/briefings of algorithm results using RMarkdown or Jupyter Notebook.
- Perform queries, conduct analysis, and produce reports utilizing R, Databricks, SQL, MS Access, MS Excel
- MA/MS degree or PhD in a relevant field, including but not limited to: Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Operations Research, Information Systems, Business Analytics.
- Minimum ten years of relevant experience or B.S in business, technical, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience with 15+ years of experience
- Experienced working with federal government categorical data from flat files, data warehouses, and external/academic sources, and should demonstrate experience as a data scientist and/or machine learning engineer.
- Demonstrated proficiency in R and Python, and familiarity with other leading statistical and data analytical software and frameworks, e.g., Databricks, Qlik.
- Proven ability to produce executive level summary reports/briefings of algorithm results using RMarkdown or Jupyter Notebook.
- Experience implementing the Data Analysis Epicycle and skilled in performing multiple correspondence analysis (MCA), principal component analysis (PCA), and association rule mining.
- Direct experience interfacing with federal agencies, as an employee or contractor preferably at DHS
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate federal security clearance.
- Background investigation required.
- Must be U.S. citizen.
- Experience supporting federal homeland security initiatives
- Professional certifications in job-relevant fields, including, but not limited to:
- Advanced Data Science: Certified Senior Data Scientist (CSDS); Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
- Machine Learning and AI: Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate or Azure Data Scientist Associate; AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty; Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer or Databricks equivalent
