- Provides technical direction to digital, analog, subsystem or radio frequency hardware development/engineering programs, team members and managers.
- Outlines and communicates the most appropriate technical approach for business development activities.
- Determines the technical direction and strategy for solving complex, significant or major issues.
- Identifies, investigates and resolves technical issues.
- Plans and evaluates system architectural design, reviews system performance and identifies technical risks and associated ways to mitigate those risks.
- Analyzes and prepares specifications.
- Participates in design reviews.
- Designs, develops and implements hardware.
- Coordinates circuit design of components.
- Communicates technical advancements through briefings and technical papers to co-workers, management staff, customers, and technical community, as appropriate.
- Maintains state-of-the-art awareness in areas of technical expertise - changes, advancements and improvements.
- Applies expertise to all areas of electronic engineering and development.
- Responsible for innovation and creativity in broad area of electrical engineering and development.
- Provides functional or resource planning guidance to engineering and management staff or groups.
- Interfaces with team members, management staff, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Identifies electrical engineering process improvements, and enforces the execution of them across the organization.
- Manages engineering metrics.
- Four-year college degree in electronic engineering or science discipline plus a minimum of twelve years experience; or an applicable Masters of Science degree and ten years of related experience.
- Experience to include hardware development/engineering, exercising creativity in technical direction and successful strategy development.
- Comfortable with communicating across disciplines in response to manufacturing and procurement matters.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, interface with customers, subcontractors and vendors, and deal with employees and managers at all levels in manufacturing, engineering and other departments.
- Ability to use typical office automation products such as word processors and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of customer needs and competing products. Must be able to solve complex and difficult engineering problems.
- Ability to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints.
- May be required to travel domestically and internationally to include working odd hours, in-line with customer requirements
