Position Summary:The Human Resources Manager oversees all HR functions including employee relations, labor relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance. This role will play a key part in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring effective communication and collaboration between management and bargaining unit employees. The HR Manager will serve as a liaison between the company and union representatives, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and promoting fair and consistent HR practices.Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements and serve as the primary HR contact for union-related matters.
  • Partner with labor union representatives to address grievances, negotiate terms, and support labor-management initiatives.
  • Advise managers and supervisors on HR policies, union contract provisions, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Schedule and maintain status of all training for each employee to ensure no training gaps for recurring and new training.
  • Support and participate in labor negotiations and contract administration.
  • Conduct investigations related to employee relations issues, including those involving bargaining unit employees.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and union workforce needs.
  • Ensure legal and contractual compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g. FMLA, FLSA, EEO, NLRA).
  • Lead or assist with talent acquisition, onboarding, training, and development programs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS data.
  • Collaborate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate processing for all employees, including those under union contracts.
  • Monitor workplace culture and morale, identifying opportunities for improvement in engagement and communication.
  • Prepare reports and metrics on HR activities, grievances, disciplinary actions, and workforce trends.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a unionized environment.
  • Strong understanding of labor law and experience administering collective bargaining agreements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
Work Environment:
  • Office environment with regular interaction on the shop floor or operational areas.
  • May require occasional travel or extended hours to support labor negotiations or investigations.
