We are seeking a skilled and experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Sign Language Interpreter to support a need at Client.
As an ASL Interpreter, you will provide interpretation services for our deaf/hard of hearing employee(s) in a machine shop environment.
The ideal candidate will be fluent in ASL and have experience working in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and timely ASL interpretation for deaf and hard of hearing employees in the machine shop
  • Facilitate communication between employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders
  • Interpret meetings, training sessions, and other work-related activities
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company's policies, procedures, and safety protocols
  • Collaborate with others to ensure seamless communication
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
Requirements:
  • National certification as an ASL Interpreter (e.G., NIC, CI, or CT)
  • 2+ years of experience as an ASL Interpreter in an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Fluency in ASL and English
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment with exposure to machinery and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to concentrate for extended periods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a 10-hour day, 4 days/week, with occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a machine shop or similar industrial environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and safety protocols
  • Certification in specialized areas, such as OSHA or industrial safety
Work Environment:
The ASL Interpreter will work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and equipment.
The interpreter must be able to navigate the shop floor safely and effectively.
