- Five years of experience in postgraduate social work and/or counseling
- Three years of experience in a pediatric medical setting
- Two years of leadership experience in a clinical setting
- Two years of leadership experience in a mental and behavioral health care setting
- Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an accredited graduate school
- Georgia Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and/or
- Georgia Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC)
- Must possess excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to resolve conflict and problem solve among multi-disciplinary team members
- Must exhibit skills in staff development and time management
- Must be able to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Must exhibit skills in coordination, delegation, and team collaboration
- Must demonstrate knowledge of age-appropriate assessment, treatment, and practice
- Must be able to remain calm and manage verbal/physical responses in stressful situations
- Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment
- Demonstrates competencies in comprehensive psychiatric assessments and discharge planning for patients presenting in a behavioral and mental health crisis in the Emergency Department or other practice settings.
- Maintains understanding of external behavioral and mental health resources and means of appropriately accessing and connecting families with resources.
- Facilitates multi-disciplinary team huddles and proactively identifies and escalates issues as appropriate.
- Acts as a behavioral and mental health resource for patients
- Maintains ability to assist with clinical care.
- Supervises and coordinates student education as appropriate.
- Attends educational opportunities of minimum 18 hours job-related education per year.
- Fosters professional development of others via constructive performance appraisals and professional development plans.
- Fosters collegial relationships between team members, other departments, and medical staff members.
- Establishes departmental goals and leads unit to achieve them.
- Manages staffing effectiveness.
- Rounds proactively to identify and react to escalating concerns of potential or actual conflict, seeking resolution, and incorporating service recovery.
- Develops and maintains relationships with leadership in other departments to ensure appropriate resources are accessible for clinicians.
- Executes implementation plans for system and unit changes.
- Engages departmental leaders to achieve unit goals and projects.
- Focuses time and attention on key retention activities.
- Coaches staff to improve performance.
- Manages daily operations of the BMHS for the system.
