POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Welcome and Information Desk (WID) operates at designated entrances across campus, serving as a primary point of contact for guests, visitors, and members of the campus community. The WID Agent plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and informed environment by offering wayfinding assistance, sharing campus resources, and connecting individuals to appropriate services.WID Agents also provide essential support for the Office of Undergraduate Admission campus tours and events. This includes greeting prospective students and families, assisting with check-in, offering directions to event locations, preparing and distributing materials, and ensuring a professional and hospitable experience for all campus guests.JOB COMPONENTS / PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enhance the visitor experience by greeting and corresponding with visitors, providing campus navigation, and facilitating meaningful connections with campus departments and services.
Manage inbound and outbound university communications, including answering phone calls, transferring calls to appropriate departments, and responding to inquiries via Live Chat and email.
Deliver a broad list of WID services across multiple campus desks (Coughlin Hall, Lewis Memorial Hall, Parmer Hall, & Rebecca Crown Library), collaborating with campus partners to meet the evolving needs of the campus community.
Monitor the WID area with care to ensure a safe and welcoming environment by reporting incidents or concerns and supporting the Front Door Policy.
Provide support for Admission-sponsored events and programs, including open houses, receptions, admitted student days, student panels, and group visits.
REQUIREMENTS AND ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants must be a registered student at Dominican University.
A minimum overall grade point average of 2.50
Display strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills as well as the potential to develop these skills.
Passion for DU with a desire to share your story and experiences.
Demonstrated skills for hospitality, customer service and creating high-impact experiences.
Dependable, outgoing, motivated and proactive - a “self-starter,” willing to take initiative.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Demonstrated ability to listen actively, think critically, and respond promptly and ethically to a variety of situations.
Must complete all required on-boarding & training at each desk location.
Must be available to attend all WID Agent continuous learning sessions and demonstrated ability to conduct new services and adhere to policies.
