
Controls Engineer

- Hands-on approach to projects - design, build and install new control systems.
- Work on engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and safety, lower operation and maintenance costs, and improve ergonomics.
- Supply project leaders with capital cost estimates and project timelines for completion of electrical work
- Provide technical support in Manufacturing & Process Control for Production and Maintenance departments.
- Mentor maintenance and production personnel in maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Work with and often manage outside engineering and construction personnel.
- Ensure all safety, health, environmental, and compliance aspects for the projects meet the appropriate regulations.
- Support the Process Safety Management (PSM) program at Red Diamond Plant by completing documentation where needed on projects.
- Support unit leadership in the oversight of startup and shutdown for major events.
- Maintain and develop plant electrical loads analysis, Arc Flash requirements and One-Line drawings.
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience
- Experience programming PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Ability to read and understand existing code, and safely edit online
- Proficiency in multiple IEC 61131-3 programming languages such as LD, ST, and FBD
- Experience commissioning new control systems
- Experience with Allen-Bradley controls – Logix/Studio and FactoryTalk View ME/SE
- Experience with SCADA software is a plus (Ignition, Aveva, WonderWare, Indusoft)
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is a plus
- Working knowledge of the UL, NEC, NFPA, 70E, NFPA 79, Hazardous Environmental Class ratings and other technical codes
- Strong desire to take ownership and drive results
- Must have good judgment, be self-motivated, and be safety conscious
- Ability to handle a variety of assignment and changing priorities
- Ability to perform hands on work as required and work effectively on the shop floor with employees and processes
- Understanding of Process Safety Management is a plus
- Ability to occasionally work off shifts to support production
- Ability to lead projects on plant and at satellite locations in US and Canada.
