Are you with us?!?Job Summary:The Safety & Security Manager is responsible for achieving optimum safety & security compliance and performance within the Mosinee Manufacturing operations in a manner that meets or exceeds established performance expectations. He/she will be accountable for developing and stewarding safety, health and industrial hygiene programs, developing and implementing appropriate training, managing required compliance reporting, representing the company in its dealings with various governmental safety and health agencies and overseeing the facilities security and emergency response program. The Safety & Security Manager will also be responsible to provide leadership and directions to all locations within Ahlstrom - Mosinee Mill and will set the tone for safety accountability within the organization.Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop, deploy, and monitor all safety programs, procedures, policies, and standards in a manner that ensures compliance to Federal, State, Local, Customer, and Company Safety standards and requirements.
  • Provide overall direction for the Ahlstrom organization in safety compliance, employee ownership and safety accountability.
  • Oversee and lead Mill security measures, efforts and programs (i.e. camera monitoring systems, Security company/staff functions, etc.…)
  • Provide focus, direction, leadership, training and technical expertise to the various tactical teams and related committees.
  • Lead/Manage Safety Team Members, coach and coordinate Team Member efforts.
  • Identify and implement best practices for preventive/compliance of safety and health standards into all operations. Stimulate and cultivate change to include a “zero incident is possible” mentality as well as that all injuries are preventable.
  • Develop, implement, and administer an internal safety and health hazard/risk assessment and a standards compliance auditing process designed to validate adherence to 'best known' standards and practices.
  • Administer root cause analysis investigation procedures/processes and ensure training for those designated to do investigations.
  • Develop, train, implement, and institutionalize a process to identify and eliminate high risk tasks through review of historical incident data; leading/warning indicators; plant, process, and equipment audits; job and activity observations; and other related methods.
  • Provide applicable management/agency notification, oversight, interface, and coaching and serve as the point of contact for all inquiries, communication and interface with Federal, State, and Local agencies/authorities.
  • Ensure adequate safety and health controls are properly designed, installed, trained and operating on all equipment.
  • Provide oversight in managing the Workers Compensation program with an emphasis on process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend coverage on a rotating basis as needed.
  • Must follow Ahlstrom's manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or other related areas or equivalent level of experience
  • 5+ years experience in a safety leadership role required, preferably in a paper manufacturing environment.
  • A track record of improved safety performance in a union environment.
  • Experience and thorough knowledge of OSHA standards / practices.
  • Certified Safety Professional accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies is preferred.
  • An individual who is personable and possesses energy, credibility and is focused in order to be able to make dramatic, lasting changes in behaviors and leadership through a combination of systems and experience.

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday and weekends as needed
