Each role listed below has specific expectations and duties which will need to be performed as described, and which will define not only the full nature of the position but also the days and work hours scheduled for each week.Science Laboratory Coordinator: The science lab coordinator has the primary responsibility to set up, organize and clean up the science labs used for the Nursing program lab classes. The coordinator is responsible for the ordering of all science lab supplies for the science and lab courses offered at OB1. At this time, one science course with a lab is offered every eight-week session.Tutor: Will provide individual and group tutoring to students via in-person or virtual setting. The tutor will assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Other assistance includes: become familiar with course learning objectives and syllabus for any course in which they support; review class material and expectations; and work through homework assignments with the student. The tutor is offered as a supplement to instruction provided in in-seat and online Columbia College classes. This duty is performed as needed.Administrative Support Assistant: Primary duties include assisting with walk-ins and answering general student questions during the heavy traffic periods associated with term registration and the first week of classes. The duties are performed during the hours of 10 am to 5 pm.Test Proctor: Will administer proctored exams for students or other individuals. The employee will become familiar with administration of the all tests that are proctored at the designated location. Please note that some exams require differing training and approvals to administer them. Typically, this duty is performed twice per session (weeks 4 and 8) on Fridays and Saturday.Virtual Course Monitor: Has primary responsibility for monitoring courses taught virtually in place of an instructor, remaining in the classroom throughout the class. The Lake of the Ozarks location offers 1-2 On-site Virtual Classes (OVC) per session. This duty is performed in the evening (5:30 - 9:30 PM), once per week per OVC course.Building Monitor: The building monitor has the primary responsibility for monitoring all building functions for all college operations after office hours in the evenings (M-Thurs., 5:15 - 9:45PM) and on weekends (Saturdays, twice per session, 4 hours each time). The monitor is responsible for the general safety of the education complex during this period. This is a part-time position.Essential Functions:

  • Practice superior customer service.
  • Successfully complete all Human Resources, Technology Services, and other departmental annual training as needed.
  • Display respect and civility to all constituencies regardless of method of communication.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Attend work timely and on a regular basis during the established hours of operation; work additional hours as business necessitates.
Test Proctor Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all terms and conditions of the "Test Center Agreement" that apply to administering all tests.
  • Test scheduling and student maintenance if necessary. This may include such things as: notification to students, tracking attendance, and documentation.
  • Coordinate testing set-up and maintain cleanliness of testing facility.
  • Develop, maintain and be responsible for associated databases and providing accurate associated reports.
  • Responsible for maintaining security of testing environment.
  • Notify Columbia College staff immediately of any test compromise or security breach.
  • Administer the tests.
  • Collect and process associated fees, invoice as required.
Tutor Responsibilities:
  • Tutor students who have been referred by the student's instructor, advisor, or through self-referrals.
  • Conduct tutoring which runs parallel to the learning objectives defined by the specific syllabus for the class in which the student is enrolled.
  • Maintain open dialogue with faculty and advisor to clarify academic expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring activities, students assigned, and time spent; providing daily reports as needed to the Assistant Director.
Virtual Course Monitor Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate access to the classroom, tools and support required by students during scheduled class time.
  • Monitor the behavior of the class and provide simple guidance to the class as to the expectations of the session.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues caused by technology used in the classroom.
  • Provide a report of accidents, incidents, or other situations that occur regarding students to campus administration the next day, as needed.
Building Monitor Responsibilities:
  • Keep record of Columbia College faculty departures as they leave the building at the end of the day upon Director request.
  • Maintain vigilance inside and outside the building for suspicious activities. Notify location Director and appropriate authority as needed.
  • Provide faculty with support as requested to use audio-visual equipment, make minor repairs, or configure equipment in the classroom.
  • Submit report of accidents, incidents, or other situations that occur regarding students or instructors to location director the next day. If it is emergent then contact the location director as soon practicable.
  • Unlock and lock classrooms. After the last evening class has been dismissed, ensure the building is empty if all faculty and students, and then make sure all exterior/interior doors are securely locked.
  • Assemble office furniture, A-V carts, or other equipment when required.
  • Accompany students to their vehicles if requested.
Science Laboratory Coordinator Responsibilities:
  • Order and replenish items used during laboratory classes
  • Set up the laboratory prior to the start of each class
  • Clean up the laboratory following each class
  • Organize and maintain equipment and supplies in the laboratory
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is operational and safe; order replacement equipment as needed
  • Order and distribute lab manuals needed for classes
  • Monitor the safe disposal and removal of medical waste generated during lab classes
Administrative Support Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Assist with location walk-ins during busy periods
  • Update the information video board, as needed
  • Answer student inquiries from walk-ins, phone or email
Supervisory Responsibility: None Position reports to: DirectorRequired Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
  • Ability to fluently read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
  • Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
  • Proficiency in using web-based technologies, including database systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with or without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Computer literate which include, but not limited to basic computer skills, knowledge of basic server/networking skills, computer troubleshooting, etc.
Preferred Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
  • Teaching experience.
  • Proctoring experience.
  • Science background in biology or chemistry
  • Experience with instructional and/or virtual conference technology.
  • If tutoring, strong background or appropriate subject matter for which they support.
Required Level of Education: High School Diploma or equivalent*Other Requirements: Ability to satisfy, within the parameters set by the College and consistent with applicable federal, state and local laws, a criminal background check as a condition of employment.Special Requirements (if any):
  • Ability to work a schedule the is primarily days, but will include some evenings and weekends.
  • *Bachelor's degree required for individuals who will tutor or be a test proctor for locations offering CLEP/DANTES testing.
