Basic ResponsibilitiesProvide systems administration services for server environmentsProvide server-level support for critical computing systems and applicationsPerform second-tier support for systems and services, and perform occasional training.Participate in evaluating, planning, and deploying server technologies for ACU
Essential DutiesProvide systems administration services for server environmentsInstall and provision Operating Systems on physical and virtual servers.Maintain system configuration documentation.Develop, deploy, and maintain process automation scripts and services.Gather client requirements to design, implement, and test server solutions.Monitor system health and optimization to prevent problems.Provide server-level support for critical computing systems and applicationsProvide server and system support for Enterprise Applications.Provide server environments for application testing and development.Work with internal stakeholders and external service providers to gather system specifications to ensure appropriate resources are available for new systems.Monitor critical server services and logs to proactively identify performance issues and/or respond to service disruptions.Perform second-tier support for systems and services, and perform occasional training.Participate in the on-call rotation.Troubleshoot problems as reported.Train team members in the appropriate use of server management tools and utilities.Participate in evaluating, planning, and deploying server technologies for ACUIdentify and recommend cost-effective technology solutions that directly support the ACU strategic roadmap.Develop strategies and standards to maintain server functionality and stability.Test and evaluate new technologies related to servers and services.Develop and implement detailed project plans.
Professional Development Requirements SkillsStrong oral and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills, ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.Knowledge of client and server operating systems like Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.Familiarity with web and application server setup and administrationAbility to analyze and resolve difficult technology problems.Ability to extract and utilize complex information from technical documentation.Ability to learn and keep current with information technology and its application to Higher Education. This includes participating in conferences and training classes on Higher Education application software or computing systems.Training ModulesOperating systems managementVMware Server Virtualization managementStorage Area Network (SAN) management
Qualifications ProfessionalBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.Experience in server setup, configuration, and administration.Proficient with scripting and process automationExperience with virtualization technologies, Storage Area Networks, and backup/restore solutions.Familiarity with hybrid/cloud environments.Familiarity with applying security best practices and performing regular patch managementPersonalClear oral and written communication with diverse groupsSelf-motivated and takes ownership of workWorks well independently and in teams, including leadership rolesStrong interpersonal and customer service skills
Physical DemandsMust be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.Must be able to work extended hours as the need arises. This includes on-call rotation and performing software maintenance and updates outside of working hours.Must be able to carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
