ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:TranSystems is excited to announce we are actively searching for an entry-level Traffic Engineer to join our award-winning team in our Towson, MD office.Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform evaluations, investigations, and design in traffic engineering including signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, lighting, Maintenance of Traffic, and ITS.
- Perform analyses in traffic engineering including capacity, Level of Service, queuing and delay.
- Document and report all processes and results.
- Assist in the preparation of plans, drafting, and computations.
- Perform field observations of traffic operations, roadway geometry, and existing conditions.
- Preparation of displays and graphics for client and public meetings.
- Assist with the design and development of a complete set of construction documents including the coordination required with other disciplines.
- Assist with the coordination of subconsultants’ work.
- Write and prepare project specifications.
- Prepare construction cost estimates.
- Assist with and prepare technical memoranda and reports for traffic engineering such as Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Safety Studies, Transportation Management Plans, and Maintenance of Traffic Alternatives Analyses.
- Assist with traffic data collection as necessary.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0 to 5 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and communication skills for report writing.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgement capabilities.
- Experience in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with traffic analysis software such as HCS and Sidra.
- Experience with traffic modeling software such as Synchro or Vissim.
- Experience with lighting photometric analysis software such as AGi32 or Visual Lighting.
