We're seeking a dedicated EHS / Lean Specialist to drive our Lean manufacturing efforts, lead health and safety initiatives, and spearhead our GEMBA program.Position Summary:The EHS / Lean Specialist will lead site-wide efforts to improve safety, efficiency, and quality through structured Lean practices and safety management. This role will serve as the primary leader of our Safety Committee (in partnership with an accredited external safety consultant) and take full ownership of our GEMBA Walk initiative, ensuring front-line visibility and leadership engagement on the shop floor.Key Responsibilities:Lean Manufacturing & GEMBA Leadership:
  • Lead and facilitate Lean projects including 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, and standardized work
  • Manage the company's GEMBA Walk program to drive visibility, accountability, and continuous improvement at all levels
  • Engage daily with production teams and during GEMBA walks to identify and eliminate inefficiencies, waste, and safety hazards
  • Mentor staff in Lean tools and problem-solving techniques to promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Track and report performance metrics including cycle times, scrap, downtime, and productivity
EHS and Safety Committee Leadership:
  • Serve as Chair of the internal Safety Committee, ensuring cross-functional participation and follow-through on key safety actions
  • Coordinate closely with a certified external safety consultant to enhance regulatory compliance, training, and safety culture
  • Conduct routine safety audits, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments for production operations and auxiliary equipment
  • Lead root cause analysis of incidents and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions
  • Lead compliance activities regarding use of regulated materials in our manufacturing processes and products.
Qualifications:3+ years of experience in a plastics or manufacturing environment with responsibilities in Lean and/or EHS
  • Hands-on experience in injection molding or similar automated manufacturing preferred
  • Proven leadership of safety committees and experience in lean manufacturing engagement initiatives
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, ISO standards, and Lean manufacturing tools
  • Preferred certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, OSHA 30-Hour, CSP, or equivalent
