Job OverviewUnder the direction of the Senior Construction Superintendent, performs a wide range of carpentry tasks. Tasks include wood/metal wall framing, installation of sheetrock, finishing of sheetrock, installation of commercial doors and hardware, sanding and painting of sheetrock walls, installation, painting and/or staining of millwork, installation of ceiling grid and tiles, and other general carpentry repair tasks.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Job Functions:
- Performs maintenance, repairs, and new construction work on items such as foundations, concrete form work, interior walls, exterior walls, all types of exterior siding, all floor covering, sub-floors, catwalks, commercial doors/frames, windows, partitions, sheetrock hanging-finishing, painting, millwork installation, ceiling grid/tile installations and all other building components as necessary.
- Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models and verbal and written instructions.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Plans, organizes work and meets all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
- Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
- Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
- Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs.
- Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
- Performs periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions for replacement items.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Operates Government or company-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
- Assists and supports other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations.
- Adheres to the company safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to complete tasks utilizing a written schedule.
- Understands air quality standards and how to apply them.
- Ability to work alternate shifts as required.
- Ability to travel out of state to a maximum of 25%.
- Performs a wide range of construction activities and other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent GED.
- A minimum of Five (5) years of experience in commercial carpentry trade performing tasks associated with job summary and duties.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required level security clearance.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
