- At the direction of the New York office corporate partners, proactively identify key decision-makers at venture capital firms, private equity firms, and promising privately held companies in the technology sector located in the New York metropolitan area and develop bespoke strategies and tactics to foster relationships with those decision-makers.
- In close collaboration with business development colleagues in the corporate department, develop and execute New York-centric strategies to achieve business objectives, including market research, identifying trends, and creating targeted outreach plans.
- Identify key ecosystem events, speaking engagements, and other activities in the New York metro area that attract technology investors and founders.
- Collaborate closely with the Corporate Marketing Manager, to develop and execute marketing initiatives that enhance the visibility of both the New York Corporate team and its individual attorneys.
- Prepare research materials and prep documents for attorneys’ pitches, events, client meetings, and other BD activities.
- Provide business intelligence on markets, clients, prospects, competitors, and individuals.
- Support partners in the management of their contacts, including being top-of-mind with priority contacts and track and organize the partners’ ongoing BD efforts in Salesforce.
- Train and work with partners’ EAs to help with Salesforce tracking.
- Draft introductions, reminders, confirmations, and other correspondence and emails.
- Assess and manage relationships with various ecosystem partners, events, organizations, and sponsorships.
- Support Events team with local event pre-planning and production.
- Use the firm’s CRM system to thoroughly track all activities, opportunities, and contacts, and generate reports that align with the role’s KPIs.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, JD, or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience working in a top-tier law firm, investment bank, venture capital or private equity firm, accounting firm, or equivalent.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships with decision-makers in the investor and founder communities.
- Demonstrated success in driving new business growth and achieving revenue targets.
- Deep understanding of the technology and innovation ecosystem, including venture capital, private equity, and emerging growth companies.
- Insatiable drive to mine for and pursue highly targeted opportunities in lockstep collaboration with junior and senior partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work with external partners to achieve common goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to fostering a collegial, high-functioning work environment.
- Ability to be in the New York City office at least three days per week.
- This role will have very few travel requirements outside of the New York metropolitan area.
