
Sandblasting Operator - Afternoon or Midnight Shift

- Ensure high-quality standards by verifying that all sandblasted items are free of coating material and stains.
- Operate the Laser Cleaning cell efficiently to enhance productivity.
- Manage the functions and operations of the Torit Room, including safely handling full 55-gallon drums.
- Adhere to current DAC hours for the sandblast room and maintain ALARA positivity to ensure safety.
- Train new technicians on processes and safety protocols to enhance team capability.
- Provide daily feedback to the supervisor regarding operational efficiency and any issues encountered.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of shop chemicals from bulk storage locations to ensure compliance.
- Unpack and certify new materials according to ISO work instructions to uphold quality standards.
- Participate in total area clean-up of equipment, walls, and floors as required to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform minor maintenance on sandblasting equipment, including:
- Change and dispose of sand.
- Replace windows.
- Conduct dryer cleanups.
- Safely change air filters per the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Handle hazardous disposal from the coating process and manage chemical disposal from the cleaning process to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have at least two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Relevant experience in sandblasting or a similar field preferred.
- Vocational, trade school, or technical certificate preferred.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and equipment operation.
- Some knowledge of general chemistry preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Basic understanding of computer equipment, common instruments, laboratory equipment and mechanical tools.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot basic issues.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to following strict safety protocols.
- Strong aptitude for learning complex technical processes and safety procedures.

- Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
- High noise level and continuous standing and bending.
- Regular exposure to acids, bases, radioactive materials and other toxic chemicals.
- Regular exposure to dust, fumes, heat, noise and cold.
- Safety and cleanliness are critical due to radiation exposure.
- Respirator required for high percentage of workday.
- Must be able to work with acids, radioactive materials and other toxic chemicals
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, reach, climb, stoop, push and pull regularly.
- Must be able to wear required equipment and PPE during the performance of specified production and maintenance operations.
- Must be able to wear a half-face respirator regularly.
- Ability to work on elevated working platform for specialized tasks
