- High school or equivalent.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills; thorough knowledge of correct grammar and punctuation; ability to organize and prioritize tasks while working cohesively and collaboratively with co-workers, supervisors, visitors, vendors, and clients.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and to demonstrate professional conduct at all times to include absolute adherence to confidentiality standards.
- Current Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving and criminal history reports.
- Understand and clearly support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
- Assist with written, verbal, and electronic communications, including creating, formatting, and preparing a variety of official letters and documents.
- Prepare reports, memos, letters, financial statements, and other documents, using Word processing, spreadsheet, database, or internal/company software.
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email.
- Perform general office duties, such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management database systems, and basic bookkeeping work.
- Answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties or take messages.
- Assist in personnel processes such as new hire paperwork, interview scheduling, personnel action forms, and distribution of forms to Human Resources.
- Build and maintain positive professional relationships with all other departments within the organization.
- Assist with standing in on light case management and disbursements of vouchers, goods, and other necessary items.
- Work on special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent basis.
- Ability to grasp, push/pull objects, and reach overhead.
- Ability to see and hear at normal ranges with corrective devices, if necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to understand and produce written and verbal information.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in daylight, darkness, and in inclement weather conditions.
