Job Title Controls Project Engineer IIJob DescriptionVanderlande’s Controls Engineering Department is responsible for the design, programming, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems for our customers. This is an entry level position, as a Controls Project Engineer 2, you will be responsible for commissioning /testing, the design of both small- and large-scale material handling systems that integrate hardware and software components.Key Responsibilities:Configure component level devicesPerform device level testing in support of PLC commissioningPerform device level testing in support of SCADA commissioningDocument device level testing for PLC and SCADA commissioning (commissioning Checklist)Perform zone level testing in support of PLC commissioningPerform zone level testing in support of SCADA commissioningDocument zone level testing for PLC and SCADA commissioning (commissioning Checklist)Perform area level testing in support of PLC commissioningPerform area level testing in support of SCADA commissioningDocument area level testing for PLC and SCADA commissioning (Product running test)Document daily progress of assigned tasksManage punch lists (software / electrical / mechanical)Monitor and document the progress of subcontractorsFollow all safety requirements at the jobsiteWrite commissioning checklist with direction of lead engineerWrite test plans with direction of lead engineer (Area, Zone, Section level)Write Controls Functional Specification / Description of Operations under direction of lead engineerWrite, debug, and test PLC code under direction of lead engineerDevelop and test SCADA/HMI programs under direction of lead engineerCommission and test PLC control panel under the direction of lead engineerSCADA commissioning and testing under the direction of lead engineerPerform of quality checks on-site and provide documentation of completion and statusPreparation and review of daily and weekly progress reportsRequired Qualification:Willingness to learnProactiveOwnership cultureBachelor's Degree in an Engineering/Technology disciplineMust be willing and able to travel 80% routinely.Knowledge of computer systems and Windows (personal computers)Must be able to communicate effectivelyAbility to work in a team and autonomous situationsStrong team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completionMust have the ability to properly prioritize work/activitiesAbility to understand PLC programs, SCADA systemsAbility to understand and interpret Electrical SchematicsDesired Qualifications:Possess knowledge of PLC programming control systems (Siemens or Allen Bradley)Demonstrable skills in ladder logic, Allen-Bradley Systems; Studio 5000Demonstrable skills in ladder logic, Siemens Systems; TIA-PortalFamiliar with communication protocols (Ethernet IP, Modbus, etc.)Familiar with installation, programming, and providing technical support of PLC based hardware and software, such as Allen-Bradley and SiemensPossess a strong ability to solve problems and research solutionsLogical mentality, skilled in understanding and designing Engineering Science: Logic & ProgrammingSolid understanding of networking principles and computer hardware setupCapable of programming in SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalentKnowledgeable of project schedulingAbility to identify network communication issues reactively and proactivelyTroubleshoot electrical based problems on conveyor systems, motors, drives, etc.Physical Requirements:Able to climb a 2-story ladderAble to walk a mile in 20 minutesAble to lift to 30 lbs. without difficultyCapable of working 10 hours standing / sitting / walking / climbing stairsMust be comfortable working in an office setting and a factory / construction environmentDuties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
