
OBGYN Assistant Nurse Manager - Jefferson Street - Downtown Campus

- Participates in the assessment and evaluation of nursing care requirements for the patient population.
- Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of care for a patient population, which are consistent with current nursing practice and the condition and age of the patients.
- Assesses patient care to ensure that patient assignment system reflects patient care needs and staff capabilities.
- Monitors and contributes to individual patient care and discharge planning activities carried out by unit staff nurses.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and implements care planning activities for specific group of patients.
- Serves as a role model for staff by demonstrating clinical expertise when providing direct patient care.
- Serves as a resource for patient care problems.
- Practices according to department/division/unit policies, procedures, protocols and practice guidelines to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Collaborates with the Nurse Manager to assist with implementation of division and unit(s) strategic plans.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location: Main location will be Jefferson St- Downtown Campus with coverage at our North Dodge clinic as needed

- Bachelors of Nursing Required
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, decision making, and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
- Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness
- Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments
- Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
- Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so
- Current experience managing/leading transitions in care
- Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
- Knowledge of UI and UI Health Care policies, procedures, and regulations
- Experience working in a large academic medical center
- Experience working in a union environment
