- Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical systems and components.
- Develop detailed solid models and drawings using CATIA V5 and SolidWorks
- Propose design ideas for the introduction of new measurement technologies, devices, and process technologies.
- Conceive mechanically oriented design solutions that also involve electro-mechanical, electronic, optical and computer-controlled capabilities.
- Work with product teams and customers to refine designs for specific applications.
- Develop and implement concepts into manufacturable form.
- Apply theoretical knowledge of design and mechanical engineering principles using structural analysis, calculations and tools.
- Ensure designs meet and exceed product specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Document the new product development process, e.g., create specifications, define testing protocols, prepare comprehensive performance reports, and comply with medical product requirements.
- Works with multidisciplinary product teams and clients to refine designs for specific needs.
- Build mockups and proof of concept models (we are very hands-on with our work)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical design.
- High level of proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software and CATIA V5 is strongly preferred. Proficiency in other CAD software such as ProE or Inventor.
- Experience in designing electro-mechanical systems, control systems, pneumatic systems, fluidic pumps, thermal management, and mechanism designs.
- Proven experience working in cross functional teams developing products from concept to manufacturing.
- Knowledge of material selection, engineering first principles, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) and various manufacturing processes and techniques is required.
- Experience in injection-molded plastic part design, machined part design and folded sheet metal design
- Experience developing products in a highly regulated environment such as ISO 13485 and/or CFR 820 is a plus.
- Experience using computational tools for structural analysis (FEA) and dynamic mechanical performance a plus.
