
Kindergarten Instructional Aide

- Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and prepare needed materials and supplies
- Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room ยท
- Attend to the physical needs of the students
- Perform clerical tasks, including filing student records, typing, taking attendance, making copies of tests and other instructional paperwork, checking/grading tests, and homework, distributing classroom-related materials, and setting up bulletin boards
- Help the teacher establish order in the classroom, school cafeteria, playground, on school field trips, and when teacher needs assistance monitoring students' behavior and addressing inappropriate conduct with limited authority to discipline
- Supervise outside playground activities; read and tell stories to the students
- Accompany and supervise bathroom breaks and to specials, including music, art, library, PE, etc.
- Assist the teacher on an instructional level by reinforcing the instruction the teacher provides to the students including individually with students, or in small groups
- Follow directions given by classroom teacher and/or immediate supervisor
- Participate in professional workshops that work for the improvement of early childhood education
- Communicate with, assist, and answer questions from the students as required on routine day-to-day classroom operations
- Treat all children and parents with dignity and respect
- Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees
- Practice appropriate safety and injury prevention methods and procedures
- Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs
- Other duties as necessary
- Bachelor's degree or higher in related Education discipline
- Highly organized and independent worker with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- PLC model experience (Professional Learning Communities)
- Superior skills to work with others and the ability of being a team player
- Proficient working with current classroom technologies
- Ability to pass NYS fingerprint clearance
