- Respond to typical customer requests for emergency, routine, and remedial maintenance of radio communications equipment and circuits:
- attempt to troubleshoot and correct problem over telephone
- schedule and initiate repair procedures in absence of immediate repair
- Install and coordinate installation of various radio communications equipment and systems:
- install and remove mobile radios in all types of company vehicles and personal vehicles
- plan for and install base stations at various locations throughout company
- install mobile radio equipment and peripherals, wide area paging systems, MAS radio systems for substation communications, and radio dispatch and control equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance of all company radio systems:
- conduct yearly inspections of all mobile radio base stations sites
- perform preventative maintenance of all mobile radio equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with FCC rules and regulations
- Provide technological advice, service, and support to company users of radio equipment and systems:
- assist with overall implementation of technical strategy as described in telecommunications department plans and goals
- maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, strategies, and advanced technologies
- Assist with FCC license applications for mobile radio systems:
- keep current with changing FCC rules and regulations to ensure compliance of company systems
- Associate degree in Electronics or other Associate Degree Programs that align with the degree previously named or equivalent Armed Forces training
- Must obtain the Federal Communications Commission general radiotelephone operator's license within one year in the position
- Valid drivers license
- Technician Selection System (TECH)-Technician level: Ability to use numerical information presented in drawings, prints, and graphs to solve arithmetic problems, ability to use symbols and codes to locate objects on a map, comprehension of pictured mechanical principles, and the ability to read, apply rules and make decisions based upon written information.
