The role is a blend of technical expertise, program management, and regulatory compliance.Job DescriptionKey Accountabilities:
  • Program Management: Managing the daily operations and long-term strategy of the plant's radiological effluent and environmental monitoring programs (RETS/REMP).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all monitoring, reporting, and sampling activities are in strict compliance with NRC regulations and the Davis-Besse's specific license requirements.
  • Reporting: Preparing and submitting detailed reports to the NRC and other regulatory agencies. This includes the annual Radiological Environmental Operating Report and Effluent Release Report
  • Dose Assessment: Calculating the potential radiation dose to the public from plant operations, ensuring the "as low as is reasonably achievable" (ALARA) principle is met.
  • Procedure Development: Developing, reviewing, and revising technical procedures related to radiological monitoring and control.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years equivalent related work nuclear experience in area of technical expertise.
  • Associates Degree in technical discipline or equivalent with 2 years equivalent related work nuclear experience in the area of technical expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in technical discipline or equivalent
Preferred
  • Growing depth of knowledge in nuclear-related activities related which require knowledge of plant equipment, systems and processes
  • Technical expertise within assigned discipline (i.e. Knowledge of federal regulations, particularly those from the related to RETS/REMP) (e.g., 10 CFR Part 20, 10 CFR Part 50).
Key Metrics:
  • An ability to work with and interpret complex data and technical specifications.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills for preparing reports and presenting information.
  • Strong Oral and written communication
  • Ability in working across functions to achieve planned results including ability to work with others in the industry on collaborate assignments
REMP/RETS Program Management includes but not limited to:
  • Environmental Sampling: Managing a comprehensive program for collecting and analyzing environmental samples, such as air, water, soil, vegetation, and fish, from locations both near and far from the facility.
  • Effluent Monitoring and Control: Overseeing the systems and procedures for monitoring all significant release points. This includes ensuring continuous measurements and periodic sampling of effluents to accurately quantify the amount of radioactive material released
Beyond the specific RETS and REMP tasks, the program owner also performs broader management duties:
  • Participating in and helping to coordinate the facility's emergency response plan.
  • Managing projects related to program improvements, new equipment installation, or procedure revisions.
