Position OverviewThe Custodian maintains cleanliness and orderliness within the Cleveland County Election Board. This position requires the ability to work under general supervision to plan and organize daily maintenance tasks. The Custodian will demonstrate professionalism in interactions with employees and customers while performing custodial and general maintenance duties to ensure the Courthouse and assigned areas remain clean and orderly.Compensation

Essential Functions
Knowledge and Skills
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in performing cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under general supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Professionalism in interactions with colleagues and customers.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices in a custodial environment.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to perform manual labor tasks.
Janitorial Duties
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors to remove dirt, dust, and debris.
  • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
  • Empty trash containers in offices, break rooms, hallways, meeting rooms, and restrooms.
  • Wash windows, walls, metal, and woodwork.
  • Clean entrances and exits, including glass, doors, and hardware.
Restroom and Break Room Cleaning
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures.
  • Wash and disinfect all restroom floors, toilets, sinks, and fixtures.
  • Replenish paper towels, toilet tissue, and hand soap in dispensers.
  • Clean and disinfect drinking fountains.
  • Clean break room floors, sinks, and counters.
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Inspect equipment for safety hazards before use.
  • Perform general maintenance or report needed repairs on equipment as required.
  • Replace vacuum bags and change belts and brushes.
Compliance and Safety:
  • Work in a manner safe for oneself and others, keeping the work area clean and safe.
  • Follow safety rules and practices and use safety equipment as required.
  • Set up rooms with tables, chairs, and other equipment as needed.
  • The employee shall be knowledgeable and follow Cleveland County’s safety policies and procedures. The employee must immediately report any accidents, unusual occurrences, or any other safety-related issues to his/her supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of custodial or janitorial services preferred.
Special Requirements
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
  • Must possess a valid driver's license from a U.S. State or Territory to perform necessary job-related travel.
